Cohesion through drama

DENIAL by James Douglas

Auschwitz. A mass grave. A place of pilgrimage. Yet some come not to mourn but to celebrate.
Three modern day “pilgrims” are visiting Auschwitz. They come not to mourn the dead but to celebrate the architects of the final solution. And yet “they must deny the very thing that they revere.” Is refutation of holocaust denial to be found in a statistical debate or in the countless stories of strength and survival? Denial is a hard-hitting and unforgettable experience which uses strong language to depict the hatred in our midst.

DESCENT by Ruth Frances and James Douglas

The past can be painful but what if all you have are memories? This powerful one-woman show explores a life that descends from happiness to uncertainty. Veronicka is packing a suitcase. Selecting the memories she will carry with her and those she will discard. Tomorrow she embarks on a fateful journey – a journey that could be more than sixty years ago or could be now. From the vantage-point of history her residual hope fills us with sadness. How then do we respond to those whose journey is taking place not in the past but today?
