Cohesion through drama
Red Card Theatre began in 2005 following a visit to Auschwitz with the Sefton Holocaust Memorial Project. The project takes young people out to Poland twice a year along with a Holocaust survivor to teach them awareness of fascism past and present. From this experience the play 'Denial' was born, an exploration of modern day holocaust denial. This play was sponsored by Unison North-West and toured extensively throughout the UK in 2005/6.

Denial was followed by the  production 'Descent'  These plays premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe 2006 to great acclaim.

Both plays continue to be performed in both theatre and non theatre settings and Denial in particular has been developed to be used in diversity training.  It is now part of a highly successful workshop.

Red Card exists to develop, support and provide appropriate productions and workshops in a variety of community settings as part of programmes which seek to enhance social cohesion and to challenge hatred of difference

The theatre company has bases in the north west of England and Southern Scotland and draws from a wide database of skills nationwide.
